Gateway Speed Team Did it Again this past weekend at the MSSL final meet of the season, at Skateworld of Branson MO -

The Best Skaters in the States of Missouri, Arkansas, and others in the midwest area. Joining the fun for the very first time, was Andrea walker, known in the derby community as "Flash", and she proved thats just what she was, winning 2nd overall for her group, and 1st overall for her division in quads, and AMAZING showing for a first meet. We are all Proud of Andrea...I mean "Flash!" - She is no longer as the derbs would say "Fresh Meat" but is now an official, speed skating rookie! Look for more from this tough young lady!

Brian Hampton and Paul Kempf also Silver Medaled in their divisions , both racing strong in their divisions, and showing that Masters and Veteran men can still get down and roll!

After Quads, Inlines Ran -  And we came to make some noise no doubt. Steve downing destroyed the field in the 500 , winning by over 1/2 a lap, it was impressive to watch no doubt, Paul Kempf would medal in Veteran Men, While Steve Downing would end up winning the master's men division

Carolina Rivera Brought the sweetness, colombian style. Carolina raced with the elite ladies, and showed them that St Louis gals were not to be taken litely, with a strong win in the 2000 meters, and an overall win for Elite Ladies

Our Mighty little Warrior, Whitney Hampton won 1st place in her division, and showed that kids can be just as fast as the adults!  Good Job Whitney

Myself, I got 3rd in the elite men's open, and this was after shaking off two falls in the race. I just got edged out for a podium spot, but had strong 4th places in a field of 9 skaters in the other two races.

We thank the MSSL league and the owners of Skateworld for hosting this meet. It was a wonderful event that we look forward to next year - All Of Gateway Skated amazingly, and showed that the hard work all season, is paying off! We are Rock's team, and its all about home town pride. St Louis is THE BEST town for roller skating, and we will show it to all!

I just wanted to post something out of the ordinary - I am truly fortunate and happy with how our club has grown this past year - To start we have a rink that is behind us, and wants to see us grow. We have had atleast 5 youth skaters, very consistently - We have had some good "Cross pollination" with the derby community, and some have even expressed interest in racing - Everyone is atleast a step up from where they were last year , and we have gone to meets, and proven that St Louis is STILL a force to be reckoned with Indoors and Outdoors. We have even expanded our Advanced group as well - All of you did this... Not me, Not Steve... All of you. Its your belief in him, and me as the Coaching staff, that enables us to be better and better everyday - Its only going to get better, and faster kiddies, so hang on to your hats!
